March 2012 Glossybox - The Harrods Edition

The minute I heard that Glossybox is collaborating with Harrods on their next box I immediately subscribed. I immediately thought about the amazing luxurious beauty products they would have.
The day has come and I received my box. It's not bad, however comparing to all those boxes the Glossybox ambassadors received I am really disappointed with the contents of my box.
There are a few items in my box that I love but also many items that I probably won't use - mainly the anti-ageing ones as Im only 18!

What I got:

- Versace Vanitas Eau de Parfum - quite happy about this sample as it is in a cute, small glass bottle
- Bliss - Blood Orange and White Pepper Body Butter - i have so many body butters from previous boxes, although I wanted to try this brand I would rather get something else. Also Im not a fan of the smell
- Revive Intensite Creme Lustre - it is aimed to reduce sagging skin... really? Im 18!
- Lancome Juicy Tube in Toffee - quite happy about this sample, always wanted a juicy tube but I don't like the brownish colour unfortunately
- Clarins Extra Firming Body Cream - another product aimed at older women :(

I was so excited about this box but the only things I am happy about are the Versace perfume and the Lancome Juicy Tube.
I really wish I'd received the Burberry Lipstick that most people got and the YSL serum. I've also seen some Ojon products and Lancome Mascara. I would rather get those than what I got :(
*Unsubscribing now.... *

So what did you get in your Glossybox? Are you happy with it?

MAC haul

I have recently visited my local MAC store just when the Naturally collection came out.
I absolutely fell in love with every single piece from that collection but had to resist the urge to buy them all, from which I am very proud of :)

I only picked up a blush and an eyeshadow which I thought were very unique and nothing like anything I own.
The Mineralized Blush in Early Morning looks quite scary in the pan, but once applied on the cheek it gives the most natural look you could imagine. Pink or peachy colours can sometimes look quite unnatural on my skintone which is very fair. I have been wearing it non stop since I got it :)

The Mineralized Eyeshadow in Summer Haze is a beautiful mixture of copper browns and vanilla. I love this eyeshadow as you can use the colours separately, eg. the light colour as a highlighter, or mix them together to get a beautiful colour all over the lid.

I also bought the Mineralized Skin Finish Natural in Light Plus as my previous powder I have been using run out and I thought I would give this one a go. I have used it a couple of times already and I have to say I really, really like it.

Last, but not least, I got a Lipglass in Pink Lemonade. Im not sure what made me choose this particular lipglass - I wanted to get a nice pink one to wear on its own but none of the lipglasses from the Naturally collection were what I was looking for, so I just looked through a few from the main collection and picked this one. I like it a lot and I love the smell of it even though I know that others really don't :) Well everyone is different...

Below are some swatches that I made for you. I didn't swatch the MFS Natural for obvious reasons - it is the colour of my skin.

Have you made any recent MAC purchases?

Hope you have a great day and I will talk to you soon,

Real techniques brushes

For those of you who don't know, a well known YouTuber - Samantha Chapman from Pixiwoo has created a series of pretty amazing brushes for Real Techniques.
I love their softness and their design, especially the colours.
They have been widely available in America, however quite hard to get hold of in the UK (even though Sam is from UK :) )
Well, happily for those who live in the UK like me it has been announced that the brushes are being released into Boots. Yay! 15th February - note that date in your calendars :)
You can see the full list of all the Boots stores that will be stocking them on the Pixiwoo Facebook page.

I am so excited to be able to get a closer look at them in person and buy some more, without having to pay the shipping costs when buying online ;)
I already own the amazing stippling brush from this range and it is truly one of the best brushes I have tried to buff in your foundation. And to top it all of - it's pink!

Another great thing about those brushes is the price tag.
They are reasonably cheap, much cheaper than the MAC brushes and the quality is very comparable. The stippling brush only costs £10.99 which I think is a total steal for the results that you get with it.

So have you ever tried the Real Techniques brushes? What do you think of them?

Hope you have a great day and I will see you in my next post,

Love, Sara

January 2012 Favourites

I cannot believe how fast the first month of 2012 went! I swear it was Christmas yesterday... ;)
This month, I have to say, was a bit -makeup-lazy for me as I had a few exams to do, so I mostly stayed inside and revised - how boring... Hopefully February will be more interesting :)
I apologise in advance for the lighting in the pictures, but I still have to experiment with my camera :)
Nonetheless, I present you my January favourites:

Skincare

  • Origins GinZing eye cream - got it for Christmas and been loving it since. It is perfect for my dark circles in the morning
  • Origins Super Spot Remover - after reading about it on Anna's blog I had to try it out since I tend to get many awful breakouts on my skin and this stuff is amazing - full stop
  • Origins VitaZing moisturiser - also got it for Christmas as a little sample and it is absolutely great for my skin. I love that it has SPF 15 and a sheer tint too. The only thing I wish was different about it is the smell (kind of like a sun cream) but I can stand it for the benefit of my skin ;)
Makeup

  • Benefit They're Real Mascara - there has been so much hype around this product and I completely understand why. It has quickly become my favourite mascara of all time and I will soon do a more in depth review on it
  • New CID cosmetics lipgloss in Baby Doll - I adore the concept of the New CID products with the little mirror and the light. I got this lipgloss in the December Jolliebox and I purely love it. I like how it looks on my lips, I like the colour, the feel of it and just everything :)
  • MAC lash curlers - Up until recently I have just been using cheap Superdrug lash curlers, but I am so so glad I decided to buy the MAC curlers - they make a huge difference to your lashes

 Miscellaneous products

  • Butter London Nail Polish in Black Knight - it is a lovely sheer black polish with lots of amazing pink, blue and silver glitter. Have worn it so many times in December and January as it just looks stunning on the nails
  • Versace Yellow Diamond Perfume - got it as a Christmas gift and fell in love with it straight away. It is very fruity but fresh at the same time. I would say it is not a fragrance for everyone but definitely my cup of tea :)
  • Rituals Foaming Shower Gel Sensation - received it in my December Glossybox and it is just the best shower gel in the world. I don't love its smell, but I will definitely be buying some other scents

Hope you have a great week and I will talk to you soon
